My name is Zena and I’m a passionate recipe developer and food content creator. I love food, but I love the act of cooking itself even more. Cooking can be fun, engaging, therapeutic, relaxing, gratifying, and so much more! Whether you’re here for the first or fiftieth time, I hope that my recipes help you find joy in cooking. Expect lots of vibrant food and with big, bold flavours. Bland isn’t in my vocabulary!

CHIPOTLE CHICKEN TACOS! @zenaskitchen

These delicious tacos are loaded with pulled chipotle chicken, homemade guac and a spicy tomato salsa. 

Roasting chicken over thinly sliced onions yields juicy, perfectly cooked chicken and jammy, flavour-packed onions. It’s a technique I learned from @dinnerbyben so shoutout to him!

If you’d prefer a veggie option, substitute the chicken for pulled oyster mushrooms - they work beautifully!

Ad | BRAISED PORK BELLY TACOS! @zenaskitchen 

These might just be the best tacos I’ve ever made! They’re loaded with sticky braised pork belly and a spicy yet creamy Asian-inspired slaw made with @lkkeurope Red Braising Sauce and Chiu Chow Chilli Oil respectively. 

I’m so excited to be partnering with @lkkeurope on this one as I’ve used their products for as long as I can remember! When they challenged me to put a legendary spin on the Chinese classic that is braised pork belly, my mind immediately went to tacos.

This delicious, comforting soup is a fusion of Taiwanese techniques and Korean flavours. The result is a dish that lies somewhere between Taiwanese beef noodle soup and jjigae, a tasty Korean kimchi stew.

@angelica.jells challenged me to create one of my favourite recipes using British beef as part of @letseatbalanced’s “Serve It Up, Pass It On” series - now I’m passing the challenge on to you!

Lean British beef is a natural source of Vitamin B12, which helps the immune system work normally as part of a healthy, balanced diet and lifestyle.

SPICY PORK NOODLES! @zenaskitchen 

I’ve recently gotten really into K-dramas, which has reignited my love of Korean food (everything they eat always looks SO good!). This dish is inspired by two of my favourite dishes: japchae, a delicious sweet potato noodle stir fry, and jeyuk bokkeum, spicy stir fried pork.

You can substitute the pork for beef (fillet, sirloin or skirt steak). For a vegan alternatively, I’d suggest tofu or shredded king oyster mushrooms.

A whole roasted aubergine is a beautiful thing. You’re left with the juiciest, creamiest flesh, which you then drown in the most delicious chilli-spiked tahini sauce. I like to serve it over rice as it soaks up all those delicious juices.

This soup is quite literally a hug in a bowl. It’s hearty, comforting and so incredibly delicious. The star of the show is the umami, flavour-packed broth, which comes together in just 20 minutes. 

The strength of the broth is entirely dependent on the quality of the Thai curry paste you use, so make sure you opt for a good one! My favourites are @thaitasteuk and @maeploy_kitchen.

SPICED LENTIL SOUP! @zenaskitchen 

This thick, creamy plant-based soup is delicious, high in protein and packed with flavour. It’s inspired by the Lebanese classic that is shorbet adas. I’ve spiced mine with ras el hanout, a North African medley of fragrant spices, but feel free to use other spices - ground cumin and/or coriander work particularly nicely.

TERIYAKI PORK MISO RAMEN! @zenaskitchen 

This ramen is so incredibly flavourful, which is surprising given that the broth comes together in just 5 minutes. The secret weapon is instant dashi, which packs an umami-packed punch that makes any broth taste like it’s been simmering for hours. You can buy instant dashi online or in most Asian supermarkets.

I’ve chosen pork as my protein but you could swap it for chicken, beef or even tofu. Just toss it in the 3-ingredient teriyaki sauce and you’re golden. Finish with your favourite toppings and enjoy!
